Co-registration of Breast MRI and Diffuse Optical Spectroscopic Imaging (DOSI)

We have a long history collaborating with researchers at Beckman Laser Institute to co-register and compare breast lesions imaged by MRI and DOSI. In the illustrated example a patient with advanced breast cancer was imaged by MRI and DOSI. Tissue markers were placed over the skin as fiducial markers for co-registration of images measured by these two modalities. The lesion is showing a higher bound water index (BWI) measured by DOSI. DOSI is also capable of generating images based on chromophores, including water, fat, oxy-hemoblobin and deoxy-hemoglobin (thus oxygen saturation), as well as a composite tumor optical index (TOI).
